Rissers is one of our favorite local beaches here on the south shore. The boardwalk / beach loop is a very pleasant walk in all seasons. Rissers is also a seasonal full service Provincial beach and the service area not only encompasses a comfortable sheltered picnic area but a canteen, interpretive center, large washrooms with changing rooms and hot showers (really appreciated after a swim in the Atlantic). There is also a rinse area outdoors for removing sand. Lots of free parking and we have never seen it crowded. Over the course of the last year on our daily walks we have identified New England Basket shells, Astartes, Tortoise Shell Limpets, Moon Snails aka Shark eyes, razor clams, Horse Mussels, Stimpson Surf Clams, False Angel Wing, Spindles, Soft Shelled Clams, Periwinkles and Dog Winkles, Urchins and Barnacles, Scallops and Boat Clams, Northern Whelks , Quahog and Ribbed Pod Shells. Sand Dollars, Starfish, Green Crab, Jelly fish. Sea Kelp and grasses. It's an amazing place for adults and children. It's also the only beach we have found where the dog on a leash and bag the poo bylaw seems to be enforced during the summer period.

Site 18 is small, but right on the water. A larger trailer will have your neighbours fire spill onto your rig. I'd still stay there again in a heartbeat, well worth the drive. Great beach for the kids.

Walk like a broke homeless to your camping ground with all your stuff on your back and feel like a barefoot donkey then get set up to your wanna-be-camping-site!

Camping with a RV would've been all right tho, everything is normal on that side... I guess "broke a** tent campers" dont deserve a good time here hah!

Best kept secret in Nova Scotia, beach is small but sheltered. A wonderful walk through the trail takes you to the public park beach lots of amenities. Showers, toilets, food. The beach is managed by a lifeguard during peak times. And don't miss the raised boardwalk.

Being serious, no notifications that you are going to walk a whole damn hill with all that camping gear! I WOULD'VE PASS!

Lovely beach and some campsites are steps away from the water's edge. Nice washrooms, showers, and canteen available as well as long boardwalks, if you prefer that to walking on the sand.
